About the Role

We are seeking a Technical Lead – AI to drive AI innovation and engineering across WSO2’s product portfolio. Reporting to the Vice President of AI, this hands-on technical role works across product and engineering teams to design, prototype, and deliver AI capabilities into WSO2 products.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in LLMs, agentic AI, and the infrastructure required to build and operate agentic systems at scale, including AI gateways, agent management, agent identity, security, governance, and observability. The candidate should also bring strong software engineering and architecture skills, with the ability to design and build secure, reliable, production-ready AI systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive AI innovation across WSO2’s product portfolio, identifying opportunities and shaping new AI and agentic capabilities.
  • Work hands-on with modern agentic technologies and engineering practices, including agentic patterns, agent skills, tool use, context engineering, memory, RAG, MCP, multi-agent systems, evaluation, and observability.
  • Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to prototype, validate, and take AI capabilities from concept to production.
  • Define the architectures, patterns, and engineering practices required to build, deploy, operate, and evolve AI systems reliably at scale.
  • Drive the technical direction for AI governance, security, safety, guardrails, agent identity, and responsible AI across products.
  • Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, protocols, and technologies, rapidly experimenting with new approaches and determining their potential for WSO2 products.
  • Actively participate in and contribute to the broader agentic AI ecosystem, including open-source projects, industry initiatives, standards, and communities such as the Agentic AI Foundation (AAIF).

Qualifications and Relevant Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant industry experience in software engineering, AI, or related areas.
  • Experience with modern AI development frameworks, model APIs, and related technologies.
  • Strong hands-on experience with LLMs, generative AI, agentic AI systems, and agentic infrastructure, including AI gateways, agent management, agent identity, governance, security, and observability.
  • Strong software engineering, system design, and architecture skills, with experience building production-grade systems.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and cloud native architectures.
  • Strong technical leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to lead small teams in relevant technical areas.
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple product and engineering teams.
